Halfway Reflection (Assignment 14A)

1. For this course a schedule has been very key in helping me make sure I get my work done and it helps a lot with making me sure I know what to do. I have set times of the week aside to get all this work done and it ended up not being that bad becuase I am never caught off guard with an assignment.
2. I have a non-profit and one time we were fundraising for a trip we wanted to go on very bad, and after so many fundraising attempts we couldnt come up with enough money. Everyone wanted to give up because of all the hard work we did and the little money we got in return. I pushed our team to do one more and we hosted a super cool yoga event and after that we were so generously given the amount we needed by a specific couple people. WIth this class, it has definitely taught me to keep a better schedule as I do not go to the in class class, therefore it is imperative that I stay on top of things on my own. I think this point is the reason why this class has helped me be more tenacious in how I do work.
3. I would definitely suggest making and keeping a schedule of the work you have to do from the first week as the assignments come out the same time every week. Also, I would suggest to always check their calendar on canvas, it is something I do every morning to make sure I am up to date. As far as developing a tenacious mindset, I think something I do is always have what I want in the future on my mind in the current to motivate me to grind all the time. I always think about what it takes to be successfull and have a wealthy person in mind knowing what they did to get where they are, which continues to push me to that end goal.

Reading Reflection No. 1 (assignment 13A)

1. I read about Elon Musk and his entrepreneurial endeavors in Tesla and Space-X. After watching, what surprised me the most was finding out that Elon himself didn't start Tesla, but that he was just a very early investor in the company. Also, it was interesting to find out all the hardships and problems he went through on the way to riches. Something I most admire about Musk is the fact that he pursued what he wanted to do regardless of the economic crash and regardless of what everyone told him in saying it wouldn't work. He had perseverance and he believed in himself which is hard to do in that situation. Something I least admire about him is his ego. The book kept talking about his big talk and how he always made himself seem better than others when it came to ideas and changing the world. I respect someone's humble grind more than a big mouth. Elon definitely faced adversity on his way to success. He ran out of money at one point and had to stay at a friends house for the time being until he could get back on his feet, but he continued his two companies. Also, a time came when he could only afford one of the two companies to put money into so he chose Tesla, but still kept Space-X in his mind and eventually secured a government subsidy to continue that company.
2. I noticed that Elon Musk was very determined and very driven. No matter what happened, he was determined to break the status quo and to make the world a sustainable-place. His goals never changed no matter what happened and his aspirations were so huge it was beyond admirable that he followed through with not one, but both of the companies.
3. One part of the book that was confusing to me was the part about his initial involvement in Tesla. They explained that he heard about people creating this all-electric car and that they needed money, but then towards the end, they kept saying it was his company and his cars, so I am confused if he was an inventor or if he bought the whole company out.
4. If I could ask two questions, I would ask how he dealt with all the adversity he faced like running out of money, and the other question would be how he saw the small opportunities that overall made his whole success like the government subsidy. I would ask these two as they were essential to his success and seem to be the hardest things to figure out when creating a business and I have heard those are the reasons that people stop so it would be cool to see what he had to say.
5. Elon was a huge believer in hard work for sure. They mentioned in the book many times of the endless nights of work and how he never stopped working regardless f what was happened, whether it be the economic crash, running out of money, and when everyone told him Tesla wouldn't work at all.

Figuring Out Buyer Behavior Part 1 (Assignment 12A)

1. The segment I will choose to look at for this assignment is income level, specifically people that fall in the upper class with higher incomes.

3. For this segment, the need awareness comes from the fact that their upper-income status makes them less likely to know a plumber or electrician, especially as a new member of a community, due to the lower income status that employees of those jobs have. Therefore, it is harder for people in this demographic to find skilled work that falls in a relatively decent price range. This need becomes most prominent when there is someone of this income level that has recently moved to a new area. This is the case because this resident will most likely have the least amount of connections and therefore they will need my services when a problem arises. My interviewees follow this exact path as 2 of the 3 recently moved and fell victim to this exact situation when a problem occurred with one of their lawn's plumbing, and when the wires broke behind the others' fridge.

4. For my situation here, the things my customers do to find me are quite cut and dry. When any of them need help with plumbing and electrician work, they will do the first things that come to mind: look up "plumbing companies near me" on Google or Siri. They could do the same for electrical companies, and if that didn't work, then they could call their contractor, or ask around with families and friends for their acquaintances in that field.

6. Some conclusions I can pull from these interviews is definitely that I need to be more cognizant of how to find new families or homeowners in specific regions of the U.S to ensure that I capture that market. Also, I need to focus on higher income snowbirds that come to Florida as they are rarely here and definitely have the money to afford these services and they are perfect targets to capture.

Idea Napkin No. 1 (Assignment 11A)

1. My name is John Schuttler and I'm from Boca Raton, Florida. I love being in the outdoors and doing things that involve minimal technology, and more action. I have skills in real estate as I own an LLC and a house under that company, as well as skills in construction. I also have a lot of knowledge in the field of sustainability and really enjoy learning more about nature as I have been to the Amazon Rainforest many times to do research and work there. I aspire to be wealthy and to travel wherever I want and to own the things I want without having to worry about money. I aspire to start my own company and to be self-employed. I can very easily see this company playing a role in my life as it could be something that allows me to travel, be self-employed, and to make my own hours. It also has scalability which is great for growing my profits when needed.

2. I will be creating a company that services businesses and households with their electrical and plumbing-related needs. We will specifically target the upper-class businesses and homes to ensure higher profits and to really find the people that have this demand.

3. As far as my target customers, they should mostly fall in the upper-class income level, also mostly being in wealthier regions of the United States. Many of them may be new to the area and are struggling to find servicemen to help them with their problems.

4. Customers will use this service at it is a necessity to living a happy life. Without working water and electricity in ones home or business, they cannot watch TV or search the internet, they cannot go to the bathroom or use their sinks. Having working plumbing and electricity is a necessity in today's society and anyone (especially the upper class) would pay to have these luxuries working.

5. What distinguishes my company from others is the fact that we will have experienced and relatively cheap work that comes to you and stays with you forever once you need the initial help. We will have a proprietary system that helps monitor all the pipes and wires of your home or business in order to ensure working parts at all times. We will also fill the gap that is becoming in society, where there are fewer and fewer plumbers and electricians, therefore capitalizing on a new opportunity.

I believe that most of these elements all fit together, but that number 5 is the one that doesn't fit the best. Because I am not a professional in this field yet, I do not really know what will distinguish me from the competition, and I am not sure if this idea will even be feasible once I do that deep research. Also, with number 3, I know that many of my customers fall in that range, however, there may be an entire group of people I am missing, and I keep getting the gut feeling that that may be the case. Overall though, I believe that most of these points go together very well and seem to make a cohesive and well-rounded plan for this business.

Elevator Pitch (Assignment 10A)

Testing the Hypothesis- Part Two (Assignment 9A)

My opportunity for this class is fixing the problem in today's society where people are not wanting to be plumbers and electricians and, therefore, there is a shortage of them in the market, calling for higher fees and less quality work.

Who: After talking in length with my five interviewees, what I noticed about who fell outside the market for this service is a small group of people who already have this service in place due to a friendship or recommendation. All 5 of the interviewees did not have the problem I am focusing on because of a friend, relative, or client has referred them or recommended them to a cheap, efficient, and quality company that does the job they need. Even though these 5 people were all in the income level and target market I chose in the previous assignment, they had a slight advantage or difference compared to the majority of that target market, making them not have my identified problem. After trying to see why else this distinction occurred, I found that recommendations and referrals were the most common reasons as to why these people and others alike did not have this problem.

What: This was somewhat hard to try and discuss with the interviewees, however, what I got from it was pretty simple. They all made it seem to me that having working electricity and working water are pretty much needs in today's day, therefore, people will be willing to pay whatever is needed in order to get those things working. This lead them to agree that if I can supply this service at a cheaper price and with better quality than the current competitors, then I can make a very good business with this. The fact is, water and electricity are needs in today's society, these needs come almost first in someones list of needs and, therefore, it falls quite high in someones priorities of day to day life.

Why: As far as why these interviewees need was different from the other interviewees and others in my target market are due to their unique personal relationships. The need is exactly the same in the sense that they all need plumbing and electrical help with their houses or businesses, but that some have personal relationships that lead them to have this need fulfilled already. This need is inherent in everyone's life that owns a house, and the only difference in the company I plan to create is to target upper class people that are overpaying, or simply struggling to find someone at all to do their plumbing and electric work.

Inside the Boundary
Outside the Boundary
Who: Upper class, New to community
Who: Lower class, Knows many people who work in the services, upper class that have these connections
What: Service for plumbing and electric work
What: They don’t have a need for a plumber or electrician because they know how to fix problems or have a friend who can
Why: Less employment in this sector in recent years.
Why: They have knowledge of people who can fix all these problems, therefore, this problem rarely occurs in their situation.

Final Reflection (Assignment 30A)

1. This semester and specifically this class is one to remember. This was the first class I ever took that we did activities and things that...
